âœī¸Every year, during this season, many farmers lose their lives while working in the fields. Even pedestrians and school-going children are not spared.Yes, dear readers, today I want to talk about a deadly reality—Lightning.

⚡What is Lightning❓

Lightning is a burst of electrical energy caused by imbalanced charges in the sky. It can strike the ground, trees, or even human bodies.

🛑Why is it dangerous❓

The temperature during a lightning strike can reach up to 30,000°C—hotter than the surface of the sun! It can cause death within a second.

⚡ Lightning- prone districts in Bangladesh:-Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Kishoreganj, Jamalpur. In recent years, almost every district has experienced lightning to some extent.

âš ī¸ statistics in Bangladesh:-According to WHO and the Bangladesh Meteorological Department, 80% of lightning deaths occur in open spaces.

📌What to do during a lightning storm:-

âœ–ī¸Avoid fields, crop lands, water bodies, or elevated areas.

âœ–ī¸Do not take shelter under trees.

âœ–ī¸Turn off electrical appliances at home.

âœ–ī¸Avoid using mobile phones and umbrellas during lightning.

âš ī¸ Weys to raise awareness:-

✅ Introduce lightning safety drills in schools.

✅ Send SMS-based alerts to farmers.

✅ Use lightning alert mobile apps (e.g., Disaster Alert).

✅ Plant palm and date trees in open fields.

❌Things to avoid:-

🚲 Bicycles , motorcycles, or boats during storms. â˜‚ī¸â˜‚ī¸â˜‚ī¸ Standing in groups outdoors. 🏠🏠Staying in tin-roofed houses.

✅Slogan: “Spread awareness, save lives.”
